Surgery and Scar Care Gels - Two alternatives for treating Acne Scars

by Clarita Milles

There are different ways to remove and treat scars. When scars are minor and barely noticeable, they will fade on their own. However, if a scar is large or restrictive it will probably require surgical intervention.

Scars can also be minimized by using special creams. This is by far the gentlest form of treatment. It can be a welcomed alternative for skin that has been ravaged by such problems as acne.

Acne scars usually appear on people that have decided not to treated their acne or simply use the wrong type of treatment. This is why it is so important that you maintain a consistent skin care routine and use the right acne cream.

Surgical Scar Removal

Sometimes surgery is the only alternative for removing acne scars. In cases such as this there are two types of procedures that can be used: punch excision and subdermal incision or subcision. Ice pick and other atrophic scars are usually treated with punch excision while subcision is used primarily for rolling scars.

Punch excision is used to remove scar tissue by using a cookie cutter type instrument. The edges of healthy skin are then sutured together to form one, small straight scar. If the removed scar is too large then a skin graft is used to close the wound.

Subcision, on the other hand, is performed by introducing a small scalpel or small pair of scissors beneath the skin to release the underlying scar tissue from the layers of skin. This procedure cause some bruising as blood rushes in to occupy the space between the skin and scar tissue. But this is exactly what helps levels out the skin.

Alternatives to Surgical Scar Removal

Scars can also be treated using scar care gels or scar creams. This type of treatment can help treat minor scars or new scars better than old scars. They can also be used after a person has undergone surgery to help promote scar less healing.

Good scar gels and creams contain ingredient that work by breaking down scars and promoting the growth of new skin cells. For example, snail serum is a gentle natural ingredient that is known to help dissolve scar tissue. It also helps promotes the production of healthy cells and increases the production of collagen and elastin fibers.

Stay away from products that contain collagen because they won't help repair scar tissue. As a matter of fact, collagen molecules are too large and can't penetrate our skin pores which means that the product cannot reach the site of the scar to repair it.

Laser treatment is another viable alternative. However, it is not always the right choice for your type of scar tissue. So, before undergoing this type of treatment consult with a dermatologist to see if you are eligible for laser treatment.

If you want to prevent scarring, you need to find the right acne treatment for your skin. However, if you are faced with severe forms of acne then you will have to depend on an adequate and effective acne scar treatment alternative, like BIOSKINFORTE. This natural skin care product can not only help treat mild to moderate forms of acne, but it can also help aid in acne scar removal.
