Scars - What Happens when your Skin is Injured?

by Martha Fitzharris

A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Injuries that affect your skin will end in some level of scarring. Scarring is an outcome of the normal curative process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.

How does scarring occur and how can we help our skin to get rid of scars?

As mentioned in the introduction, scarring is the normal curative process of an injury. The skin is left with a scar when the deeper and thicker layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The seriousness of the scar will depend on the severity of the wound.

Any time our skin gets injured by, for example an acne infection or a cut, a number of different cells come to the rescue. This is the body's own way of protecting itself from harm. It is a very complex curative process that usually causes scarring.

The healing process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which form clots to minimize blood loss. A crust or scab will shape over the top of the wound. This will work as a protective barrier against foreign substances, protecting the body whilst fixing the problem.

To repair the damage, the body has to accumulate new collagen fibers; a biologically occurring protein which is synthesized by the body. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen is more numerous and more randomly arranged.

This mechanism results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body can not exactly re-build the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different texture and quality than the surrounding healthy tissue. Scar tissue is usually of inferior functional quality and less resistant to ultraviolet radiation. This also implies that sweat glands and hair follicles do not grow within these areas.

Do you have a Scar?

Skin affected by injuries will of course be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you use a treatment solution to prevent possible scar formation. Other incidents that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion solution that includes skin renewal activators and soft physical abrasives will effectively remove old and new scars.

Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body tries its best to cure wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to use a microdermabrasion cream to help the skin to properly remove scars.

Scars can now be easily removed thanks to BIO SKIN EXFOL, a biological skin care solution that includes one of the best remedial ingredients that Mother Nature can offer.
