Scarless Healing of Acne Scars

The human body is able to sustain a variety of injuries, including penetrating trauma, burn trauma and blunt trauma. All of these insults set into motion an orderly sequence of events that are involved in the healing response, in this the regular functional tissue (skin) is replaced by connective tissue (scar) and these reaction characterized by the migration of specialized cells into the injury site.
When an injury happen a migration of different cells comes right away and the complex healing mechanism just commences in the moment it's happened. Platelets and inflammatory cells are the first cells to appear at the site of injury and they provide key functions and "signals" necessary for the influx of connective tissue cells and a new blood supply. This period is called inflammatory phase. The signs have been well recognized since ancient times: rubor (redness), calor (heat), tumor (swelling) and dolor (pain).
The arrival of wound macrophages is a marker that the inflammatory stage is nearing an end and the proliferative phase is occuring. Lymphocytes appear into the wound area at a later stage but are not knew to be crucial inflammatory cells involved in the healing reaction; their precise role in the wound healing system remains unclear.
As the Proliferative phase advances the primary cell in the wound site is the fibroblast. This cell of mesenchymal origin is in charge for producing the new matrix necessary to recover structure and function to the injured tissue. Fibroblast attaches to the cables of the provisional fibrin matrix and start to generate collagen.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the animal kingdom, accounting for 30% of the total protein in the human body. In normal tissues collagen gives strength, stability and structure. Collagen is required to enhance the defect and regenerate anatomic structure and function. When too much collagen is deposit in the wound site, regular anatomical structure is gone, function is compromised and fibrosis appears.
In summary, the natural healing cascade starts with a precise process of hemostasis and fibrin deposition, which leads to an inflammatory cell cascade, distinguish by neutrophils, macrophages and lymphocytes within the tissue. Now is followed by attraction and proliferation of fibroblasts and collagen deposition, and to conclude remodeling by collagen cross-linking and scar maturation. Although this orderly chain of events responsible for normal injury healing, pathologic responses leading to fibrosis or chronic ulcers may happen if any part of the healing chain is altered.
Fibrosis: Abnormal Skin Reaction To An Injury
Fibrosis will be defined as the replacement of the regular structural elements of the tissue by alteration, non-functional and excessive accumulation of scar tissue. This is probably the most important biological marker for fibrosis. Diverse clinical problems are associated with excessive scar formation for example, keloids and hypertrophic scars.
Keloid scars are basically thick, puckered, itchy clusters of scar tissue that grow beyond the borders of an injury or incision and almost never regress. Keloid scars are recurrently very nodular in nature, and they are typically darker in color than surrounding skin. They occur when the body persists in produce tough, fibrous protein (recognized as collagen) following a wound has healed.
Keloids are fibrotic tumors distinguished by a collection of abnormal fibroblasts with excessive deposition of collagen, fibronectin, elastin, and proteoglycans. Histologically, keloids are made of relatively acellular centers and dense, abundant collagen bundles that generate nodules in the deep dermal portion of the lesion. Keloids present a therapeutic challenge that must be addressed as these lesions can cause serious pain, pruritus (itch) and physical disfigurement, may not improve in aspect over time, and can still reduce mobility if placed over a joint.
Keloids can take place anywhere on the body, but typically occur over the breastbone, on earlobes and on shoulders. Keloids frequently occur in persons with dark skin, as individuals of Asian, African or Middle-Eastern descent. A person's tendency to manifest keloids does decrease with age. But, one of the most troublesome characteristics of keloids scars is their tendency to recur, recurrently needing repeated treatment.
Hypertrophic scars rarely are difficult to distinguish from keloid scars histologically and biochemically, but unlike keloids, hypertropic scars stay confined to the lesion site and generally mature and flatten out over time. Both types secrete Increased concentrations of collagen than normal scars, but usually the hypertrophic type exhibits declining collagen synthesis after about six months. But, hypertrophic scars have around twice as much glycosaminoglycan as normal scars and this and enhanced synthetic and enzymatic activity result in drastic alterations in the matrix which impacts the mechanical properties of the scars, including diminished extensibility that makes them feel firm.
As with hypertrophic scarring, everyone who have generated one keloid scar are prone to this skin affection in the future and should alert their physcian or surgeon if they are prone to need injections or to have any form of surgery.

I have been dealing with issues with my skin since I was 13 and I am 26 now.
